The Billionaire Simulator: You Are What You See

“When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.”

– ERIC HOFFER, philosopher/author

“Our brains are constantly reacting to the environment and literally changing based on the people around us. They do this automatically, instantaneously, and unconsciously.”

– DANIEL GOLDMAN, Social Intelligence

“Freedom is an illusion.”

– COLOSSUS, 1970

“Man, this guy is going to mess my whole day up,” I muttered as I took another slurp of boiling hot espresso.

The thought “I really should sip stuff like this,” shot across my mind as I scalded the roof of my mouth for the fourth time. I figured that would mean sending a message to my subconscious that I’m fearing something though so screw that.

“My mouth needs to toughen up,” I resolved.

I was taking time out of my busy vacation to meet this dude, and here he was practically standing me up. What the heck!

It was 10:31am, and we had agreed to meet at 10:30. “He’s already breaking agreements. Not a good sign,” I mentally noted.

The gentleman I was meeting that morning was a bona fide billionaire. I’d never met a billionaire before, but I always figured whenever I did meet one he would probably be on time. And yes, I figured he would be a “he” so sue me for chauvinism in a comment below.

He showed up at 10:33 and apologized profusely for running late so I decided to let it slide.

“Can I buy you a cup of coffee?” I asked.

“Sure,” he replied.

Come to find out he owned not only the restaurant we were meeting at but also the entire island it was located on. He let me buy him a cup of coffee that he already owned. Classic.

“I can’t wait to be able to do that to someone,” I thought.

So after a little back and forth billionaire-banter I started to notice something really … odd.

I noticed that we kept sitting in the same positions as each other. If his arms were folded, so were mine. If his legs were crossed, mine were to. Normally I wouldn’t have thought anything of this except for I’ve never crossed my legs before.

“Leg crossing is the first step to cross dressing” my mom always used to say.

Ok she didn’t come right out and say that. She worked it into a nursery rhyme, but the message was clear enough. Don’t do it.

Right about that same time I noticed that every time he would cough I would feel like coughing and sometimes actually coughed at the exact same time as him. That would be only a little weird except for the fact that I don’t cough. Ever. Even when I have a cough I don’t cough.

“Coughing is a sign of weakness,” my mom used to say.

I had a really tough mom by the way. She was like a tiger mom but stricter.

I “watched” as we drank our coffees at the same time, smiled at the same time, and changed positions simultaneously.

Now normally I’d think he was purposefully mirroring me for the sake of rapport except for, again, this was a billionaire. He certainly had nothing to gain from this meeting. This was all my pleasure, not his.

I now realize that we were in a full state of what’s called “empathic resonance.” It’s when two people meet and their minds and nervous systems synch. It’s almost like, for the length of our meeting that day, I was a billionaire. He “rubbed off on me” so to speak. No homo.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Why the heck am I reading this article?”

There’s no logical answer to that question so I can’t help you with it unfortunately, but I will say this …

There is a scientific reason why you need to choose your friends, thoughts, entertainment, and blog articles very carefully. And that reason is …

Mirror neurons.

“Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Is Anyone Truly Free At All?”

“The primal source of human intelligence comes from mirror neurons which give us the ability to place ourselves in the skin of another and imagine their experience.”

I want you to listen up and listen up good. Because what I am about to tell you is the most revolutionary thing you’re going to hear for at least the next five to seven business days until my next blog post goes up …

You are nothing more than a combination of everything you’ve ever seen, heard, and thought.

And without outside intervention? You’re only free to think and act within the parameters of your “inputs” up to this point.

“You’re not free. You only think you’re free.” – The Prisoner TV Series

Your Delusion: You wake up every day thinking you are free to work hard and shape your life to be what you want it to be.

The Truth: You are free to do nothing besides change your mental inputs. Your life will change automatically based on those adjustments.

… as she broke both her knees on the way down and lost her balloons

Would you really want it any other way?

Changing a life is hard.

Changing inputs is easy. You’re doing it right now.

If you were to take a random person off the street (which I’m always tempted to do), erase their mind with a Men In Black memory-eraser, and download everything you’ve ever seen, heard, and thought into their mind … they’d be you. Or something creepily similar to you anyway.

They would think like you, talk like you, act like you, and very quickly have a life that looks just like yours.

Now the question we have to ask ourselves is, “why is this true?”

And the answer we have to answer ourselves with is, “the mirror in our brains.”

Located in the premotor cortex of your body’s mainframe (brain) are these recently discovered neurons that mimic every single thing they see, whether real or imagined.

They’re called mirror neurons.

“Mirror neurons will do for psychology what DNA did for biology.” – VILAYANUR RAMACHANDRAN, University of California Neurologist

This mimicking has a very similar effect on your mind and nervous system as if you had actually done the thing in real life, to the degree that people with amputated limbs feel “phantom” pain when they see someone else get poked in the same limb that they’re missing.

Here is a very brief scientific explanation for all this from someone much smarter than I am …

This is why you cry during sad movies, elate when your team scores on TV, wince when you see a guy get kicked in the nuts if you’re a guy or wince when you see a woman get kicked in the vagina if you’re a woman, etc.

You’re not crying for the person on the screen; you’re crying for you.

You’re not celebrating for the guy that caught the winning touchdown pass; you’re celebrating for you. Your mind thinks YOU did that.

You’re not wincing for the actor’s nuts or vagina; those are YOUR nuts and vagina for all your brain can tell.

Do you understand the ramifications of what I’m telling you right now?

Your mind does not just passively witness the words and actions of others or even the images you conjure up in your head through thought; it actively practices them as they occur. And this mental practice is just as powerful as if you did it in real life. Your real life body then begins to act accordingly and without your conscious permission.

There is absolutely positively nothing you can do to stop this.

The only thing you can do is control the inputs. That is it, and that is all.

“O be careful little eyes what you see …” – children’s sunday school song

It starts from the time you are a baby when someone playfully sticks their tongue out at you and you return the favor reflexively (reflect-ive), and continues through your life as you yawn uncontrollably when other people yawn (are you yawning now? Go ahead … yawn. You’re picturing it; might as well do it), laugh when other people laugh (why do you think TV sitcoms use a laugh track?), and tear up when others cry.

Side Note: to the degree that you don’t do these things, you are somewhere on this scale:

Socially Unintelligent –> Sociopathic –> Autistic (in other words … brain damaged)

When you see someone murder a person in a movie, you’re not just seeing it; you’re rehearsing it.

Grand Theft Auto isn’t just a video game for kids. It’s a simulator for future convicts.

post3“What should we get little Johnny for his birthday, hunny? Oh, I know … ”

According to Jesus there is a very thin line between thought and action. Maybe no line at all …

” … but I say to you that anyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery …”

Now we know why.

I remember one time I got injured practicing mixed martial arts. I couldn’t train for about three months, so I spent that time watching old UFC fights.

When I healed up and came back to spar with my trainer I was fully expecting to get my face handed to me. To my surprise I was better than I was prior to the injury. Like … way better.

I was moving in ways I’d never moved before. I could feel the difference. Everything seemed effortless, like I was Neo in the Matrix dodging bullets in slow motion. It was freaky.

How is it possible that I could improve as a fighter without training for months?

Because although my physical body was resting, my mind was actively training vicariously through the fighters in the UFC videos.

I wasn’t just watching those fighters. As far as my brain was concerned, I was those fighters.

You’ve probably heard the story of the P.O.W. who spent years in solitary confinement visualizing himself playing golf every day. When he finally got out he went straight to a golf course and played a perfect round of golf.

Incredible, huh?

Two things about this story …

1. It’s not true. Sorry to burst your Zig Ziglar bubble.

2. It’s still a good story and weird stuff like this happens all the time. So whoever made it up … kudos.

Look, the practical ramifications of mirror neurons are nothing new:

  • Be careful who you hang out with; you’ll become like them
  • Practice visualizations because your mind can’t tell the difference between them and reality
  • Be selective with your entertainment because it has an impact on you
  • Control your thoughts because they lead to action, habit, and destiny
  • garbage in, garbage out
  • … etc.

But now you know why all this is true. And knowing why you should do something makes all the difference in the world when it comes to you actually doing it. Ask any parent who routinely replied to their kid’s questions with “because I said so” and now has to keep coming up with bail money.

Let me bring all this home for you …

You are like a human sponge rolling around planet earth soaking up everything in its path and making it a part of you. When people squeeze you, your past squirts all over them.

You are like a chameleon turning the color of whatever you happen to be around at any given time. Only the colors stain.

You are like an audio recorder with the red light on at all times. You may forget what you hear and read, but your subconscious remembers every single word and directs you accordingly. When you speak it’s most often a playback of the recording.

So no, you cannot hang out with your loser friends and not have them affect you negatively. Are you God? No, you’re not. Believing you’re God doesn’t make you enlightened, it makes you a DUPE.

So if you’re not God then you are stuck with mirror neurons that act how your friends act, and do what they do. You can’t control it.

The only thing you can control is what you allow your inner copycat to see. I suggest you show it some cool stuff.

Show it some people who are succeeding and living productive lives. Go to seminars and church instead of shopping malls and bars.

Show it movies where people do heroic stuff as opposed to most of the trash coming out of Hollyhood lately.

Show it some mental movies of people doing great things by reading biographies.

Show it images of you accomplishing your goals.

Show it pictures of stuff you want.

Take control of your personal environment and guard your eyes with your life. They truly are the windows to the soul.

Thank you for your encouraging words. My husband and I have been remolding a church so I have been very busy.We are saving money so we can move to a thriving state to do realestate. We are in the process of restoring our credit. I have a 13 year old son waiting on us to get him and the lawyers we need to hire are expensive. I know that this is how we will be able to go after him. Have a Blessed Day.

  5. Great stuff Preston! It sounds like scientist are starting to catch up with Napoleon Hill and Maxwell Maltz, who could speak generally about controlling our actions and environment through thought, without really knowing the mechanics of why this occurs. Excellent unicorn too BTW 🙂

Hey Preston, thanks for being you! I wonder if I’ll mimic your movements also when we meet.

  16. Very true, Preston. Way back, when I was a lad, I had a 6 foot by 12 foot trampoline and took trampoline lessons at the YMCA. Last lesson, one class, I decided to try something I hadn’t yet done, the back flip. With the teacher up on the trampoline with me to spot, I went up, and with a bit of a push, went around. When I went home, I tried without assistance, went up, went half way around, came down on my head. Ouch. So, I waited a few months until my next class, got up on the class trampoline with the instructor, sailed out of her reach and did a perfect back flip without assistance. Never landed on my head again (at least not on a back flip). So, even thinking about what I needed to do and picturing it helped prepare me to actually do it! Thanks for the reminder.

With over two billion neurons in our adult brain a few can become mirrored to reflect upon our hidden knowledge or a divination into past events. Your descriptive verse of planned expression characterizes how a person can relate to a diverse set of circumstances. The amazing thing I find out about you is the methods used to illustrate the definition of principle. I like the way you reference things together to form the strategem for thought in bringing things together. To many it can appear awkward but you have a way to put things into perspective. Bless the spirit.

The business side of this industry is completely different from helping friends, family or it being a part of your job responsibility. I came across your website/blog about 9 months ago. You are one of the very few extremely successful people in this industry who don’t mind the sharing of knowledge and information. I absolutely love everything you bring to the table to event specialists all over the world, especially your interactive approach to involving us in the creation/selection of your designs and color pallets. Although very few event professionals are willing to mentor or share information, you should not be depended upon as the only source of information. A serious palnner will continue to read and learn everything he/she can industry wise, attend seminars, network, and be willing to go through the trials, errors, and economical issues of this business. It is not your job to hand hold us through this business. A “Thank You Mr. Bailey” should take the place of someone telling you what you are not doing… and if someone needs help…. Just ask. You were very kind in stating that you would contact her personally and offer further assistance… you are a true professional. I thank and appreciate you for all that you have done and shared.

  43. Sometimes problems can screw us up. Back in May, I had a problem with my computer. The company that is supposed to take care of anything that comes up, took away my sound and therefore I can not watch videos. So many I need to watch, but can’t. When I came to your site, I said –I hope he has this just written out for me. I have always preferred words. Easier to read and understand. If you want to go back and read again–you can.
After reading this, I felt better. I have tried for a while to do exactly what you have written. But, sometimes,we get off our course. I wrote down some of the most important things to remember. With it to refer to, that will help me. I love what James said–keeping good thoughts up front, in your mental hard disk, has been the solution to nasty memories–all of us should try to do this. We all have crap that should be just kept stored away from us. It’s part of us, but we do not need to live with it anymore–as long as we learned from it!! You know the saying–if you do not learn from your mistakes, you will repeat it!!

  48. I just waste three minutes of my life reading this blog. Nothing mention about the subject which what the billionaire conversed to Preston. Preston, to the point is the most effective direct mirror neuron as you call it to mimic.
    By the way:
    “Freedom is an illusion.”
    – COLOSSUS, 1970

It is a delusional mind to think that freedom is an illusion. Freedom is worthy to the one true to their cause at heart.
It is the inherited light in us from GOD always wanting to be free. It is the one thing that Lucifer hates most. That is why all his infidels followed his path to stop humanity (NWO) from being free. Preston, stay the course focused on GOD’s words. Do not falter like so many: OPRAH, OBAMA, etc… The list is long!
For the ratio of peoples going to heaven and hell is a thousand to one. All the superior intelligent, power, and wealth accumulation equal to everything.

“I’m everything, and everything is nothing” – Septimius Severus (First Africa roman emperor) rule from 193-211 AD. America’s government is the shadow of the roman structure. Therefore! It is critical for America return to take GOD as their refuge.
    Unto humanity;
Holy Spirits, August 14, 2013 – “Do you want to be the master of your desire and flesh or be enslaving by it?”
Voltaire – “I’m abandoned by God and man…I shall go to hell.”
Thomas Paine: “I would give worlds if I had them…That the Age of Reason had never been published. Oh, God, save me; for I am at the edge of hell alone…”
Thomas Carlyle: “I am as a without hope, a sad old man gazing into the final chasm.”
Gandhi 1869-1948 wrote 15 years before his death – I must tell you in all humility that Hinduism, as I know it…entirely satisfies my soul, fills my whole being and I find solace in the Bhagavad and the Upanishads.” And just before his death he wrote: My days are numbered. I’m not likely to live much longer, perhaps a year or more…for the first time in fifty years I find myself in the slough of despond…All about me is darkness… I am praying for light.”

Preston! The light is the inherited freedom which we all have in equal at birth. It is how we pursue our freedom in the decision by the hand of another or of our own free wills. Choose well my friend!

    • Hello Preston!! I am new to your blog and this industry as well. In reonspse to A Serious Fan , I have been on Mr. Bailey’s web site and I am instantly inspired by what I see. I have come to realize we are in a very competitive business and it’s all about making your name. There is enough business (or cash) to go around for us all but we must go get it. Network with others in your state or surrounding states. I’m located in Indianapolis, and at least once or twice a year, I travel to Chicago for seminars and workshops. Secondly, read, read, read. We can never read too much. Both of these will light a fire so to speak and motivate you. Lastly and most importantly, do not be afraid of failure or the word no. STEP OUT ON FAITH. I see Mr. Bailey has several appearances. I would love to come see you but I have membership renewals and seminars to attend to close to that time. With me just starting out in the business, my budget doesn’t allow me to make the trip this year. Hopefully, I will be able to see you somewhere near Indiana or make the conference in 2013.

  49. Preston,

You’re an interesting Man of God and Jesus and the dear Holy Spirit, in saying that, I wonder why you seem to look up to people with money and not to what they do for others. Yes, we all need money to have a good secure financial life. But, it doesn’t guarantee a life worth living.
I’m sure you have a project that helps people, because in the Gods words, to be a true Christian is to help the poor, the needy widows, and children in need. To give a smile, a kind word, to not judge, and to forgive.
But sometimes, your way of doing or saying things are right on the edge, of not being inspired by God. Though you do bring a smile to many people.
I believe God has blessed you, and He’s expecting you to bless others. And I’m sure you do, it’s just hard to see it sometimes.
Don’t mirror anybody but God, most, not all wealthy people has done some unGodly things to get where their at, and this life will be their only reward. If your wealthy, give to help others and the poor animals that are so mistreated, and stop bragging about your income. We know you’ve worked to be rich, don’t keep putting it under our noses, as though, we aren’t trying. God give everybody different gifts, we just need to recognize them and put them to use.

  50. @Uriel

I would like to say that your post came off as negative and down putting not up lifting. It would be nice if you could try to be uplifting in light of what the article did say.

Also I would have to say that you probably have gotten your terms mixed up. God did not give us freedom. freedom being defined as “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.” What god gave us is agency or “The ability to Choose or act for ourselves.” He didn’t even give us free-agency because while we can choose our thoughts and actions we can’t choose the consequences.

I think the statement that “Freedom is an illusion” is going to the point that if you give everyone there agency then you can’t guarantee anyone’s freedom since one person could use there power and choice to hinder or restrain someone else’s.

Jesus showed us a better way to live but didn’t force anyone to follow him, leaving people there agency. Lucifer would like to take away your agency so you would have no ability to choose.

  51. Yet another enlightening prose’ Preston. At 5:34 a.m., you have just changed not only my day, but my entire outlook of life. God Bless you.

    Dave Bond

  53. This was fantastic!Preston we need more people like you to say and teach positive things to a world where there is so much idiocy.God Bless guy.

What your eyes see, equals immediate memories that will in the future guide you to what you will become and see in your mirror of life!

  55. “Born not made” vs “Made not Born”. This is good support for the latter; I’ve felt uncomfortable with “being born a certain way”. We must watch, in good conscience, what stimulates us. This shows us that people are not born with an inclination to be homo or hetero-sexual, a criminal/civil, depressive/happy, Republican/Democrat, etc., etc. Who knows how much ill will and brainwashing we have recieved through various media even in just a year. Not to mention a lifetime. It would probably blow our minds if we realized how much “input” we recieve in just a month, a week, a day, or even an hour. We should then filter ourselves to recieve as much good in our media as we can.

However, who’s to say that what we’ve already been exposed to, in various meda, has skewed our view of right and wrong? Poor and rich? Destitute and wealthy? Hence the much researched philosophy that children are the most impressionable the first five years of their life (Do you then wish your parents were billionares? I find myself wishing one of mine was). After the first 5 years (in the general population. Obviously not us), the mind becomes more and more closed; less impressionable. Why? Because it’s really a matter of who we can trust. People learn to be skeptical & fearful and sometimes rejecting new ideas or concepts that don’t comfortably fit with their social and physcological foundation.

So what must we do? Stay open minded & impressionable and figure out who and what you can trust. We have to be skeptical of what we’ve already learned. Yoda (Star Wars) said to Luke, “You must unlearn what you have learned.” We’ve got to consider the new “input” that may challenge our own ideals. Especially when new ideals or “inputs” that challenge our negative, unproductive, and poverty ideals.

So for all of you who’d like to put this to the test, test God’s promise: Malachi chapter 3 verses 7 through 12. Once you realize it works and God is real, tell others.

I am an emeigrng event planner in the bay area, however, I have been planning or assisting with the planning of events for approximately 28 years. A serious planner will continue to read and learn everything he/she can industry wise, attend seminars, network, and be willing to go through the trials, errors, and economical issues of this business.

Remember, a person is lucky if he can count on one hand the number of true friends he has in his life. Choose your friends wisely and make sure they are truly friends for the sake of being friends. Many times a very giving person will find that he has very needy friends and family and that is very sad indeed. Try saying no a few times and see if those same friends are still around or if they move on. Many times you will find you have been victimized just for having a giving heart.

  61. Great truth and wisdom. You have the mind of a 100 year old.

  62. Preston, You are so right on the money with this article. My children are amazing (I am sure)and so many people have asked me how this is so, every single day of their lives along with reprimanding when needed, I have found a way to tell them how awesome they are. Guess what, they are. What we see, what we hear, our choice of friends all make us who we will be. Now they are all off to college, and its time for me, so hay want to hang? 🙂 I want to make MONEY, no I NEED to make MONEY…3 kids in college at the same time. What was I thinking?

  63. Great article Preston

  64. Excellent. Following heavy damages to the head in auto accident my visual and past memories were disconnected for years. In the struggle to regain them it was a white fog, then a blue band with spots, then finally, being a computer oriented person, a black screen with a green blinking light and the word ‘Ready’. I could feel I was open to masses of input like a sponge to regain old and new experience, which I thought I’d then process like days past to come up with best solutions. Now I see our own environment needs attention because we see it everyday and stasis or negatives don’t work either. Interesting….

  65. Tomorrow i’ll have no friends!! Today I’ll have a know friend!!

This is really, really, outstanding. Preston, I don’t exactly know what it is, or how to explain it, but you talk what I feel. And has always felt all my life, but was too chicken shit to add a voice, or any action to it.

You seem to represent the manhood, that I believe we all kinda sense on a deep level somewhere, but having been beat down so bad by life, (or the lack thereof, whichever is more appropriate), that we don’t seem to have the energy or strength, to give it just-one-more-try, before we throw in the towel, or eat my girl friend’s bar-b-Que fried pot roast, whichever one will take you out the quickest,…

And then, I like the way you put it when you say; and then someone like you steps through the frame, and not just remind us, but also show us how it’s done. And then, believing and knowing what to do and how to do it, and wanting to do it, we enter the hardest, toughest, bloodiest, fight and battle that we have ever been in in all of our lives with us being stuck in quick sand, and blueberry molasses…

Which means that by now, we’ve been beat down so bad, that we don’t even have the energy or drive to honestly want to, and then by continuing to listen to you, we suddenly realize that though we’re not able to want to, that we could at lest find enough energy and strength to “want to want to” and then this builds up enough momentum, to want to, and this builds up enough momentum, to discover, what “Real Wanting” is, and for once in our life, gives us the real, and honest , and authentic choice to choose.

Not verbally, but with every fiber in our bones, till nothing, absolutely “Nothing Else Matters”

And that choice speaks loud and clear for itself. And what it says is: Change,(and life) Is An Inside Job. It’s seen on the outside, but it actually takes place on the inside. This article, helped me to see that more clearly.

So much thanks, love and peace to your kind, and may we all someday be of the same.

    Mike B.

Have you ever had an incident just happen and you pick up a book, go to church or read an email that you were just going to delete and have it find you the answers to the question you were searching for, at that time. This was the email, this was the just thing I needed to confirm thoughts I had known but always thought I was the only one who thought this way.
Kudos…for great conversation and realization that there is much truth to the blog above.

    Thank you.

  76. Now if a person wants to make friends in the rich/snooty and stodgy millionaire/billionaire area so they can mirror them how do you suggest that a person should get started? Can you come with a top ten or something? This was absorbed from my grandparents many many times Matthew 19:24 “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” Is it true? I do not know.

  77. Will Murrell February 6, 2015 Reply

That was a great article!!! Deep stuff, i love it, Thank you!!!

  78. God Bless,

Ya know, Preston, I have read a lot of your stuff and watched many of your video presentations. I also bought one of your products “Freedomsoft” and was even tempted to buy others, but resisted. As sales people go (I am one also) you are great. I’d even say, in my opinion, the best of the today’s Gurus.

I’m a Minister and I teach the Bible. I say it this way because most know what the “Bible” is, but do not know what the “Word of God” is, and that is what I really teach. I do that by using the sales techniques of the greatest salesman the world has ever know. Guess who!

Our Ministry is based on “rightly dividing” the Word of God, which is the revealed and will of God, and the father of Jesus Christ. I do this by adding no “private interpretation” of my own.(the Word forbids it. See II Peter 1;20 KJV). Our ministry’s research of the translations of the Holy Bible available (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Latin) are the most extensive, and the most documented of any other that has ever been done.

I say all this so you know I am not speaking from natural knowledge only, but of spiritual knowledge as well. The “Mirroring” technique has been taught to sales people everywhere. So it is nothing new. And yes, there is something to the influence that it has on the prospect. I have used it much over my 50 year sales career, and your billionaire acquaintance’s behavior suggests that he has used it also, to the end that it has become second nature in his manner.

But beyond that, there is a more important spiritual reason for that kind of activity between you and he. Simply put, we function in a “natural” world, but we live in a “spiritual” one. You both were functioning in the five senses (natural) world not aware of the (real) spiritual influences. I’d bet that you have been hypnotized at least once or subject to such. I would also suggest that paranormal activity is of great interest to you, and likewise in your billionaire acquaintance.

In the meeting that you so well described above, you were both in a natural state. You see, the natural man has “NO” spirit (no matter what they think of themselves – I Corinthians 2:14 KJV), so, they can only explain events according to the senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and touching. And that is in fact what you described in the encounter above.

Based on my knowledge of God’s Word (15 years worth), I suggest that the spiritual activity around every person is way more significant that the natural, and was so in your meeting.

Thanks for the opportunity to comment…

    In Christ,

  79. Wonderful info Preston;
I have hear and studied these principles for a long time. But you can never hear, see or practic them enough. There is a world of truth to being aware of the people you hangout with and the friends you choose.

  80. Nice! Question, does it all come through your eyes or does it come through your ears too? if you listen to the audio book of emotional intelligence would it be as effective as reading it?

  81. Wow Preston,
A lot of the stuff you post is silly crap, BUT THIS WAS IMPORTANT!
    Thank you.

  82. I guess I will continue to listen to my God. He has blessed me so much. I also know that I can do anything I desire. All it takes is action and self control. Planning doesn’t hurt either. Your article has some good points but I will have to disagree with some of your conclusions. You see, I was educated when critical thinking was encouraged. These days our educators, in public schools, are throwing trash at our young people and give them failing grades if they don’t parrot it back on their examinations. Private school and Home School students are greatly out performing public school students on the S.A.T. and the A.C.T. because they are encouraged to think for themselves.

I never go on that account and think that pic is still up. Got to remove it as i feel a little ridiculous now for looking like a follower.
Yes, it’s great that you have high self esteem and are constantly looking for ways to improve yourself then share that information with others for various reasons but I feel that sometimes it’s best to be a little humble.
This message probably will be removed by one of your outsourced moderators but I just hope it does get to you.
For the most part I was always a know it all and still working on attitude but doing my best to learn that you and though I’ve learned a lot of different things, everyone in this world has something to offer of value. Rich or poor.
Good luck to you in whatever future goals you have.

  86. When suggesting positive things to do, it’s best to leave that “go to church” part, off. They cherry-pick from a book of ancient Government, that was written over 2,000 years ago. It promotes murder, misogyny and a plethora of evils. That’s where the “christians” get all that hatred…hatred of minorities, women, Gays, etc……well, anyone that’s not a White, Christian male. That silly book is just a record of their Government from those times, with a bit of mythology thrown in, to further enhance the fear factor. That’s how they controlled the people back in those days…with fear. You know, kinda like the weak and ignorant are controlled, today. You have your strong points, Preston, but arrogance is not one of them, and certainly not your fear of a mythological being. A young punk could learn a lot from the older folks, but it could be too late for you. You already have it ingrained in your mind, after many years of brainwashing by “the cult”, you believe that this dude “Jesus”, like the unicorn, is real. I assure you, science has already taken care of that mythology. It’s best to leave your imaginary friends behind, now, and you’re old enough to drop the shackles of religion, and step into reality. It may be scary, but try to be tough.

  87. Words words and more words! Imagine The capacity of HUMAN BRAIN , amazes me. The POTENTIAL it has stands you very close to GOD! The difference is “KUN FA YA KOON”.he says and Universe evolves, we try to reach there but only takes us TIME to bring the world to a DOT. 107. A lot of things you talked about is so true enjoyed reading this cuz it’d a eye opener..

  108. I think you are partially right. We do tend to copy others, but most often one’s innate personality takes over. Some of us, by nature, are ego-driven and outgoing while others tend to be quiet and reserved. The official words used are extraverted or introverted. That doesn’t come about by watching television or movies, or having coffee with billionaires.

I can’t sing like Elvis or Sinatra and don’t want to dance like the fellows on that television show. I like to watch the Patriots play but have no desire to be knocked down by a lineman who weighs 320 pounds.

I am turned off by both that sissy, Obama, who “leads from behind and kills with planes and bombs, or by Hillary the tough lady. Both tend to lie. Both seem indifferent to the human suffering they cause. Depending on the government to take care of us makes us dependent, not vital, truly alive and useful. Nor do I want to hit on every woman I meet as Bill Clinton does.

I also feel very uncomfortable watching Donald Trump exaggerate about groups or cut others down to size. That long war Bush got us into has cost our nation trillions and ruined the lives of patriotic young men and women, who returned home missing limbs or had their minds addled or worse. What have we gained?

I know a surgeon who is able to slice people open with impunity. I find the thought of doing that repulsive even if he saves people’s lives. Sticking a knife in someone’s chest or belly, opening them up as if they were watermelons isn’t something I long to emulate.

I once met Billy Graham face to face, but I didn’t want to become a preacher or even join his church. I do admire Christ Jesus, and try to follow his teachings, but don’t think I would try to feed a crowd with a loaf of bread and a few fish.

Maybe your theory explains why the gang bangers kill each other in Chicago. But it also is possible growing up without a father in their home, living in abject poverty, and having little meaningful education while attending a terrible school actually makes a difference,

My goal in life was never to make billions. But I don’t have disdain for those who are bright enough or ruthless enough to be that successful.

I have never been tempted to try illegal drugs. I believe keeping my mind clear is more important. I wonder how many babies would have made a positive difference in our world and they not been aborted.

I believe we are largely products of our early years at home, plus our response to those we chose as idols as kids. Crossing one’s arms or yawning when others do it may be
interesting, but it doesn’t say much to me about character.

Focusing on that which is good is important. However,
humans are extremely complex creatures. If we see God as
love and trust God to direct us we probably won’t worry as we grow old and know we are about to die.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him
and he shall direct they paths.” Proverbs 3: 5-6 seems the best course to follow. But that is my decision and not something I would push on others.

Trusting a God we can’t see or talk to is a hard thing to do. But it probably is worth trying.

If nothing else your essay has encouraged me to think. That’s good.

Wow, Preston! Yes, I do understand the concept of mirror neurons but it sounds like there’s no way to be one’s complete, authentic self without the mirror neurons always being right there to record every visual, every audio, every life experience,…every everything ;(

The concept of “protecting one’s eyes” makes sense but it just seems like there’s no escape from these mirror neurons given their location in the prefrontal cortex.

So, moving forward, is the suggestion to completely ABANDON ones true, authentic self in order to “appease” these mirror neurons given the potential for someone/something/some entity to invade one’s prefrontal cortex and, therefore, gain access to one’s deepest, DARKEST secrets/desires/wants, etc?

I am a huge proponent of being one’s authentic self at all times, especially within the privacy of one’s personal space. So I’d be interested in knowing how you have been able to handle this dilemma 🙂
